To a solution of 1-[2,4-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]piperidine-4-carbaldehyde (25.2 g) and 4-[(2-hydroxy-2-methylpropyl)amino]-1,3-thiazol-2(5H)-one (7.00 g) in 2-propanol (200 mL) was added piperidinium acetate (10.8 g). The reaction mixture was stirred at 60° C. overnight, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (NH, ethyl acetate/hexane), and the obtained solid was washed with diisopropyl ether to give a solid. The obtained solid was recrystallized from ethyl acetate/heptane to give the title compound (11.5 g).
