At RT, 60 mg (0.11 mmol) of 2-chloro-6-({(2-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-thiazol-4-ylmethyl}sulfanyl)-4-(4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl)pyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile (Example 2A) and 0.011 ml (0.13 mmol) of isopropylamine were stirred in 1.5 ml of THF for 60 min. Another 11 μl (0.13 mmol) of isopropylamine were then added, and the mixture was stirred at RT for another 60 min. About 10 ml of water were added to the reaction mixture, and the precipitate formed was filtered off, washed with water and dried under high vacuum. This gave 35 mg (56% of theory) of the desired target compound.
