To a solution of 3-[3-(dimethylamino)prop-2-enoyl]-1-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]pyridazin-4(1H)-one (337 mg, 1.0 mmol) in ethanol (100 mL) were added 4-methylphenylhydrazine hydrochloride (237 mg, 1.5 mmol) and Et3N (0.28 mL, 2.0 mmol). The mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 3 h and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. Preparative HPLC chromatography provided 3-[1-(4-methylphenyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]-1-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]pyridazin-4(1H)-one as a pale yellow solid (108 mg, 27%).
