To a stirred solution of (S)-tert-butyl 2-(4-(3-ethylureido)phenyl)-4-(3-methylmorpholino)-5,6-dihydropyrido[3,4-d]pyrimidine-7(8H)-carboxylate (intermediate 5) (2.72 g, 5.5 mmol) in DCM (40 mL) was added TFA (20 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated and the resulting residue was dissolved in the minimum MeOH and precipitated from Et2O to give a cream solid (2.35 g, 4.6 mmol, 84% yield).
