A solution of tert-butyl 2-chloro-4-morpholino-5H-pyrrolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine-6(7H)-carboxylate (intermediate 2) (2.05 g, 6.0 mmol) in TFA (15 ml) and DCM (30 ml) was stirred at room temperature (20° C.) overnight. The material was concentrated in vacuo to give an orange oil, which was used without further purification.
