Procedure

20 mL of THF and 2.6 mL of 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide were added to 0.32 g (0.87 mmol) of methyl 5-chloro-2-({[3-(pyridin-4-yl)phenyl]carbonyl}amino)benzoate at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 1 hour. After cooling, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, and water was added to the residue, followed by filtration and drying, thereby giving 174 mg of the target sodium 5-chloro-2-({[3-(pyridin-4-yl)phenyl]carbonyl}amino)benzoate (yield: 53%).
