Procedure
2 kg (8.4 mols) of 3,5-dinitrophthalic anhydride and 897 g (8.4 mols) of p-toluidine are kept under reflux in 6.2 liters of glacial acetic acid for 3 hours. After cooling, the mixture is filtered and the residue is washed with 2 liters of water, suspended in 25 liters of water, filtered off and dried at 100° C. in vacuo.
