Procedure
A solution of [piperidin-4-ylmethyl]-carbamic acid t-butyl ester (4.28 g, 20 mmol), 4-fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride (3.89 g, 20 mmol), and diisopropylethyl amine (3.5 mL, 20 mmol) in 50 mL of CH2Cl2 was stirred at ambient temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was diluted to twice its volume with CH2Cl2 and washed with 1N HCl, brine and dried (Na2SO4). The solvent was evaporated in vacuo to give 8.2 g of product as a white solid.
