To a solution of 2-chloro-4-(1-methyl-1H-pyrazol4-yl)-benzoic acid, methyl ester (6.25 ) from Example 113 in methanol (80 ml) was added 1N sodium hydroxide (30 ml). The reaction was heated under reflux for one hour. The volume of solvent was reduced in vacuo by three quarters and the residue treated with 2N hydrochloric acid at 0° C. A precipitate was filtered and dried in vacuo to yield 5.84 g the title compound, MS m/z: 237 [M+H]+.
