Reaction Steps

1-(5-Benzyloxymethyl-1,4-oxathian-2-yl)-N4 -acetylcytosine (0.31 g) was dissolved in methanol (10 ml), and 0.43M sodium methoxide solution (1 ml) was added to the solution. The resultant mixture was stirred at room temperature for one hour to complete the reaction. The reaction mixture was neutralized with acetic acid, and the solvent was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure to obtain pale yellow solid.
