Reaction Steps

1-(5-Acetoxymethyltetrahydropyran-2-yl)thymine (0.07 g) was dissolved in a saturated ammonia solution in methanol, and the mixture stirred overnight. After removing the solvent by evaporation under reduced pressure from the mixture, the residue was purified on a silica gel column (eluent: chloroform/methanol=15/1) to obtain the desired product (0.032 g, 52%) as white solid.
