Procedure
2.2 g of pyridine-3-carbaldehyde and 2 drops of sulfuric acid are added to a solution of 3 g of 4-amino-6-methyl-3-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1,2,4-triazine in 30 ml of ethanol. The reaction mixture is then maintained under reflux for 90 minutes and then the resulting suspension is cooled to 20°, filtered and dried. 4.1 g of the title compound having a melting point of 235-237° are obtained.
