5-Methyl-2-phenyl-2,4-dihydro-pyrazol-3-one 2 g trimethylorthoformiate (188 ml) and o-anisidin (1.29 ml) are heated swith glacial acetic acid (5 ml) to 70° C. for 2 hours. After the reaction mixture cools down, methanol is added. The precipitate is collected and recrystallized in ethylacetate.
