A solution of 6-bromo-4-chloro-3-propyl-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one (0.5 g) in dimethylformamide (2 ml) was treated with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (0.34 g). The mixture was stirred at room temperature under nitrogen overnight and then poured into water, extracted with diethyl ether and the extract washed with brine, dried and evaporated under reduced pressure to give 6-bromo-4-diethylthiocarbamoylthio-3-propyl-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one, m.p. 135-7°.
