Procedure

450 mg of (4-bromo-phenyl)-(4-hydroxy-2-methylsulphanyl-phenyl)-methanone are taken up in 7 ml of acetone and treated with 1.24 g of K2CO3 and 530 μl of 1,6-dibromohexane. The suspension is heated under reflux overnight, cooled, filtered and concentrated. After removing the excess 1,6-dibromohexane there are obtained 710 mg of [4-[6-(bromo)-hexyloxy]-2-methylsulphanyl-phenyl]-(4-bromo-phenyl)-methanone as a brown oil.
