The azide obtained above was dissolved in methanol and palladium hydroxide on carbon was added. The reaction was stirred under one atmosphere of hydrogen for a time sufficient to remove the benzyl ester group and reduce the azide. Concentration under reduced pressure gave the title compound. 1H NMR (CD3OD): δ0.77 (3H, d, J=6.4), 0.93 (3H, d, J=6.7), 0.94 (3H, d, J=6.6), 1.50-2.30 (11H, m), 2.36 (1H, m), 2.51 (1H, m), 3.60-4.60 (4H, m), 5.90 (1H, s), 9.81 (1H, s).
