Prepared by refluxing the 4-[2-(4-nitro-phenyl)-(E)-ethenyl]-1-triphenylmethyl-1-H-imidazole (melting point: 280-285° C.) obtained in Example 9.9 (a) in 1N hydrochloric acid (4 hours) and column chromatography on silica gel with CH2Cl2 /MeOH (10:1) as eluant.
