Procedure
6.20 g of 8-fluoro-1,4,5,6-tetrahydrobenzo[f]quinolin-3(2H)-one are added portionwise under nitrogen within 35 minutes at 20° to 25° to a stirred suspension of 2.17 g of lithium aluminum hydride in 60 ml of dry tetrahydrofuran. The reaction mixture is boiled for 150 minutes under reflux and then treated at 0° to 10° with 7.0 ml of 6.5N sodium hydroxide solution. The mixture is filtered, rinsed several times with 20 ml of tetrahydrofuran each time and the solvent is distilled in a vacuum. The thus-obtained 8-fluoro-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydrobenzo[f]quinoline obtained is processed directly.
