Procedure
tert-Butyl 9-(3,3-difluoroazetidin-1-yl)-3-azaspiro[5.5]undecane-3-carboxylate (1.26 g, 3.66 mmol) was dissolved in hydrogen chloride in methanol (1.25 mol/l, 29 ml) and the solution was refluxed for 45 min. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in a small amount of ethanol. A solid was subsequently precipitated out by addition of acetone. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 10 min, diethyl ether was then added and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for a further 30 min. The resulting precipitate was filtered out with suction, washed with diethyl ether and dried in vacuo. Yield: 1.1 g (95%)
