A solution of 5-(6-methoxycarbonyl-2,2-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran-4-yloxy)-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (163a) (260 mg, 0.65 mmol) in 4 mL CH2Cl2 and 2 mL TFA was stirred at room temperature for 2 hr. The mixture was concentrated, dried under vacuum, and taken to the next step as it is.
