Procedure
Tetrabutylammonium fluoride (1 M in THF, 1.0 mL) was added to a solution of benzyl 4-[4-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)naphthalen-1-yl]butylcarbamate (19, 380 mg, 0.80 mmol) in anhydrous THF (15 ml) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred for 2 h and concentrated to dryness. The residue was purified by column chromatography (silica gel, 3:1 hexanes/EtOAc) to afford butylcarbamate 20 (287 mg, 99%) as white solid: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.23-8.21 (m, 1H), 7.84-7.81 (m, 1H), 7.42-7.34 (m, 2H), 7.25-7.15 (m, 5H), 6.96 (d, J=7.5 Hz, 1H), 6.62 (d, J=7.5 Hz, 1H), 5.00 (br s, 2H), 4.65 (br s, 1H), 3.13 (q, J=6.6 Hz, 2H), 2.87 (t, J=7.5 Hz, 2H), 1.64-1.47 (m, 4H).
