A solution of 4-(6-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)but-3-ynylcarbamate (30, 390 mg, 1.1 mmole), oxiran-2-ylmethanol (21, 0.1 mL, 1.4 mmole), and triethylamine (0.01 mL, 0.06 mmole) in absolute EtOH (8.8 mL) was subjected to microwave irradiation at 130° C. for 30 min. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by column chromatography (silical gel, 95:5 CH2Cl2/MeOH) to afford carbamate 31 (236 mg, 42%) as a white solid: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CD3OD) δ 7.80 (s, 1H), 7.68 (dd, J=8.7, 3.9 Hz, 2H), 7.38-7.16 (m, 8H), 5.10 (s, 2H), 4.18 (dd, J=9.6, 4.2 Hz, 1H), 4.11-4.01 (m, 2H), 3.76-3.67 (m, 2H), 3.39-3.31 (m, 4H), 2.63 (t, J=6.9 Hz, 2H).
