(S)-ethyl 6-(4-((6-oxo-5,6,6a,7,8,9-hexahydropyrido[3,2-e]pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazin-3-yl)methyl)piperazin-1-yl)nicotinate (0.355 mg, 0.813 mmol) was suspended in dioxane (4 mL) and treated with LiOH (1N, 4.00 mL, 4.00 mmol). The resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 3 h and concentrated in vacuo until most of the organic solvent was removed. The solution was acidified with HCl (4.5N) to pH=3 and the resulting precipitate was filtered off, washed with ethyl ether (5 mL) and dried in vacuum to afford the title compound as a brown solid (0.260 g, 78%).
