A solution of 1,14-dihydroxy-12-[2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxycyclohexyl)-1-methylvinyl]-23,25-dimethoxy-17-ethyl-13,19,21,27-tetramethyl-11,28-dioxa-4-azatricyclo [22.3.1.04,9 ]octacos-18-ene-2,3,10,16-tetraone (FR-900520, EP 184162) (80 mg) and tri-n butyltin hydride (0.2 ml) in toluene (5ml) was heated at 70° C. for 2 hours. The cooled reaction mixture was then evaporated in vacuo and the residue purified by column chromatogragphy on silica eluting with ethyl acetate to give the title compound as a foam (50 mg).
