Reaction Steps
A mixture of 2.5 g N-[3-(bromomethyl)phenyl-N-[2-[4-(tetradecyloxy)phenyl]ethyl]acetamide and 2.28 g of 5-methylthiazole in 50 ml of toluene is refluxed for 5 hours, cooled and ether added. The solid is collected by centrifugation and washed several times with ether then vacuum dried to give 1.8 g of the desired product as a white solid, m.p. 136°-140° C.
