0.093 g (0.00097 moles) of methanesulfonic acid was added to a suspension of 0.40 g of 1-cyclopropyl-8-difluoromethoxy-6-fluoro-7-(3-methylpiperazinyl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid (prepared as described in Example 1) in 50 ml of methanol to obtain a transparent solution. This was concentrated by evaporation under reduced pressure, and the residue was washed with ethanol, to give 0.47 g of the title compound (methanesulfonic acid salt) as a colorless powder, melting at 289°-292° C. (with decomposition).
