Procedure

2.8 g (8.3 mmol) of 6-[4-[N-(3-aminopropyl)acetamido]phenyl]-4,5-dihydro-5-methyl-3(2H)-pyridazinone hydrochloride are boiled under reflux in 30 ml of 2N hydrochloric acid for 2 hours. The solution is concentrated by evaporation under vacuum and the residue is taken up with 20 ml of saturated potassium carbonate. After this residue has been extracted twice with 30 ml portions of isopropanol, the combined organic phases are dried over potassium carbonate and concentrated by evaporation under vacuum. The residue is chromatographically purified with ethyl acetate/ethanol/conc. ammonia (15:10:2) on silica gel.
