Procedure

520 mg of lithium aluminium hydride were introduced at -30° C. to a solution of 3.6 g of the product of Step A in 7.5 ml of ethyl ether and the mixture was poured into a solution of sodium and potassium double tartrate. The mixture was stirred for 16 hours and after decanting and extracting with ethyl acetate, the extracts were dried, filtered and concentrated. The residue was chromatographed on silica and eluted with a hexane-ethyl acetate mixture (7-3) to obtain 0.96 g of the expected product melting at 64° C.
