Procedure

A mixture of 1 g (3.5 mmoles) of 1-cyclopropyl-6,7,8-trifluoro-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxylic acid, 1.32 g (5.7 mmoles) of 3-methyl-3-trifluoroacetamidomethylazetidine hydrochloride and 2.3 g of triethylamine is heated under reflux in 12 ml of pyridine for 3 hours. The mixture is evaporated, water is added, and the product filtered. 1.6 g (100%) of 1-cyclopropyl-6,8-difluoro-7-(3-trifluoroacetamidomethyl-3-methyl-1-azetidinyl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid are obtained, melting at 232°-7° C.
