Reaction Steps

The product of step d) (3.0 g) was stirred at room temperature under nitrogen with t-butyl glyoxylate (2.0 g) in methanol (100 ml) for 18 hours. The mixture was evaporated and the residue purified by flash chromatography (ether/petroleum ether 1:3) to afford the sub-title compound (3.9 g) as a pale yellow solid. mp 71°-72°.
