Procedure

A solution of 0.92 g (3 mmoles) of 4-(4-bromo-2,5-difluorophenyl)-1-methyl-4-piperidinol in 20 ml of 6 N hydrochloric acid was refluxed 4 hours, and evaporated to dryness under vacuum. The residue was stirred with ethyl ether and filtered to afford 0.97 g of the title compound; mp 223°-233° C. with decomposition.
