Reaction Steps
The compound resulting from Example 153E is dissolved in 1 part methylene chloride and 1.5 parts formic acid and stirred at ambient temperature to give 2-propyl-3-{N-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-N-[(2'-[1H-tetrazol-5-yl]biphenyl-4-yl)methyl]amino}pyridine. This ester is hydrolyzed with potassium hydroxide in ethanol/water to give the title compound.
