Procedure

3 g of 6-(4-nitro-phenyl)-3-methyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3,5-oxadiazin-2-one in 60 ml of dioxan are hydrogenated with 0.3 g of platinum/charcoal (5%) as catalyst until the uptake of hydrogen has ceased. The hydrogenation is carried out at room temperature and under normal pressure. The catalyst is then filtered off, the solvent evaporated off in vacuo and the residue is recrystallised from ethyl acetate to yield 6-(4-amino-phenyl)-3-methyl,3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3,5-oxadiazin-2-one which melts at 173°-174°C with decomposition (compound 83).
