Procedure
A mixture of 2,6-difluoronicotinic acid (6.2 g), thionyl chloride (15 mL) and CH2Cl2 (100 mL) was heated to reflux for 3 h. The mixture was evaporated to dryness, CH2Cl2, was added and evaporated to dryness to afford 1.1 g of the 2,6-difluoronicotinic acid chloride. This material used without further purification.
