Procedure

To a solution of 67.20D (0.2318 g, 0.73 mmol) in dry DMF (0.03 mL) and dry DCM (3 mL) was added thionyl chloride (0.13 mL, 1.8 mmol) at 0° C. The resulting solution was warmed to room temperature and monitored with TLC and LCMS. After 45 minutes, the reaction was diluted with DCM and then washed once with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and once with brine. After drying over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtering, and removing the solvent under reduced pressure, the residue was purified by silica gel flash chromatography (0-5% EtOAc/hexane) to afford 67.20E (86.3 mg, 35% yield). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ ppm 7.16 (1H, m), 7.00 (4H, m), 6.72 (1H, dt, J=9.0, 3.5 Hz), 4.50 (2H, s), 3.71 (3H, s), 2.71 (4H, m), 1.34 (6H, m).
