To a stirred solution of 78.9A (0.082 g, 0.23 mmol) in THF (5.00 mL) at 0° C. was added LAH (0.46 mL, 0.46 mmol, 1.0M). The reaction was then stirred for 1.5 hours. 1N NaOH(aq) was then added to the quench the reaction. The reaction was extracted three times with EtOAc. After drying over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and filtering, the organic solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the product was purified on silica gel (0-20% EtOAc in hexanes) to yield 78.9B as a colorless oil (0.048 g, 63% yield).
