The mixture of (2E)-3-pentyl-3,7-dihydro-1H-purine-2,6-dione 2-hydrazone (200 mg, 0.85 mmol) in trifluoroacetic acid (10 mL) was refluxed overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated and purified by preparative LCMS to yield the desired product (160 mg, 60.2%). LCMS calculated for C12H14F3N6O (M+H): 315.1. found 315.0.
