Procedure

The above product of tert-butyl (6S,7S)-6-((4-phenyl)piperazin-1-yl)carbonyl)-5-azaspiro(2,5)octane-7-carboxylate was stirred in 8 mL of 50% TFA in methylene chloride solution (v/v) for 4 hours. After removal of solvent, the residue was dried under high vacuum overnight to give (6S,7S)-6-((4-phenyl)piperazin-1-yl)carbonyl)-5-azaspiro(2,5)octane-7-carboxylic acid. LC-MS: m/z 344.1 (M+H)+.
