A stirred solution of 4-(5-fluoro-2-trifluoromethyl-benzoyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (295 mg, 0.78 mmol) in dioxane was cooled to 0° C. and dioxane.HCl (1 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 15 minutes, then concentrated. The resulting solid was washed with diethyl ether and dried to afford 220 mg (89%) of (5-fluoro-2-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-piperazin-1-yl methanone hydrochloride, LCMS: 313.07 (M+1)+, 97.2%.
