Procedure
A solution of piperazin-1-yl-(2-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-methanone (5.5 g, 21.4 mmol) in diethylether.HCl was stirred at 0° C. for 30 minutes. The mixture was then concentrated, and the resulting residue washed with benzene and dried to afford 5.7 g (91%) of piperazin-1-yl-(2-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-methanone hydrochloride. 1H NMR: (DMSO-d6): δ 9.6 (s, 2H), 7.8 (m, 2H), 7.6 (m, 2H), 4.0 (m, 1H), 3.8 (m, 1H), 3.0 (m, 1H), 3.4 (m, 2H), 3.1 (m, 3H), 2.9 (m, 1H).
