To a solution of Boc-D-Tyrosine-Methyl ester (0.950 g, 3.217 mmol), 4-Phenoxyphenyl-boronic acid (0.688 g, 3.217 mmol), and triethylamine (228 mL, 16.083 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (DCM) (79.2 mL) at room temperature under an atmosphere of nitrogen was added copper (II) acetate (0.445 g, 3.217 mmol), and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for about 42 hours. The reaction mixture was washed with 60 mL of water and 20 mL of DCM and filtered. The DCM layer was then extracted. The aqueous layer was re-extracted with DCM (2×30 mL). The organic layers were combined, washed with 60 mL of brine, and seperated. Organic layer was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and the solvent was removed in vacuo to obtain the crude mixture, which was purified by silica gel flash chromatography, using EtOAc/hexane (gradient system), to obtain the product (0.57 g, 50%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCL3): δ 1.42 (s, 9H), 1.59 (s, 1H), 2.99-3.11 (m, 2H), 3.67-3.73 (m, 3H), 4.57 (d, 1H, J=7.2 Hz), 4.99 (d, 1H, J=8 Hz), 6.92 (d, 2H, J=8.8 Hz), 6.99-7.01 (m, 5H), 7.07-7.10 (m, 3H), 7.31-7.35 (m, 2H).
