3-(5-Isopropyl-[1,2,4]triazol-1-yl)-5-(5-methyl-pyridin-2-yl)-benzoic acid methyl ester (2.0 g, 6 mmol) was dissolved in 30 mL MeOH, and 2.0 mL of 3N aqueous NaOH was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours, then cooled and acidified with 10% aqueous HCl, and concentrated under reduced pressure to yield 2.45 g of 3-(5-isopropyl-[1,2,4]triazol-1-yl)-5-(5-methyl-pyridin-2-yl)-benzoic acid.
