Aqueous ammonium bicarbonate (10%) solution (50 mL) was added in one portion to a solution of the product of Example 1, 5-[(R)-2-(2-{4-[4-(2-amino-2-methyl-propoxy)-phenylamino]-phenyl}-ethylamino)-1-hydroxy-ethyl]-8-hydroxy-1H-quinolin-2-one trifluoroacetate, (1.80 g, 2.1 mmol) in ethanol (6 mL). The solution was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The resultant solid was filtered and dried under reduced pressure to afford the title compound (0.84 g, 1.67 mmol, 80%) as a yellow solid.
