7-(2-Chlorophenyl)-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nonan-6-one (20 mg, 0.00008 mol) was dissolved in anhydrous DCM (2 mL). To this mixture was added isobutyraldehyde (8.0 μL, 0.000088 mol) and sodium triacetoxyborohydride (3.0E1 mg, 0.00014 mol). The resulting solution was stirred at RT for 16 h. The volatiles were removed in vacuo and the resulting residue was dissolved in acetonitrile/H2O and purified by prep.-LC/MS chromatography to afford the desired product. LC-MS: 307.1 (M+1H)+.
