Reaction Steps
A mixture of 4′-{[4-butyl-2-(methylthio)-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-5-yl]methyl}biphenyl-2-carbonitrile (1.98 g), Raney-nickel (15 g) and 1-methoxy-2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethane (25 mL) was stirred at 160° C. for 16 hr. The insoluble material was filtrated, and the filtrate was concentrated to give the title compound as colorless crystals (1.09 g, 63%).
