Procedure

Under ice-cooling, oxalyl chloride (320 μL) was added dropwise into a dichloromethane (30 mL) solution containing 2-[(2R,5S)-5-(3,4,5-trifluorophenyl)pyrrolidine-2-yl]propan-2-ol (745 mg) and pyridine (5 mL). After stirring for 30 minutes at the same temperature, water was added to the reaction solution, and the organic layer was partitioned. After washing the organic layer with brine, the resultant was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed under a vacuum, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (heptane/ethyl acetate→ethyl acetate), and the title compound (580 mg) was obtained. The physical property values are as follows.
