Procedure
Under ice-cooling, oxalyl chloride (713 μL) was added dropwise into a chloroform (70 mL) solution containing 2-[(2R,5S)-5-(3,4-difluorophenyl)pyrrolidine-2-yl]propane-2-ol (1.66 g) and pyridine (10 mL). After stirring for 30 minutes at the same temperature, water was added to the reaction solution, and the organic layer was partitioned. After washing the organic layer with brine, the resultant was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed under a vacuum, and the resulting solid was washed with a mixture solvent of ether/heptane (1/1), and the title compound (1.3 g) was obtained. The physical property values are as follows.
