Procedure
A solution of 5-methyl-3-phenylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid (1 g) and PCl5 (1 g) in dichloromethane (20 mL) was refluxed for one hour. Then dichloromethane and POCl3 were removed under reduced pressure to give 5-methyl-3-phenylisoxazole-4-carbonyl chloride.
