To a solution of N-{[2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methyl}-4-piperidinecarboxamide (950 mg, 3.32 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in acetonitrile (30 ml) at room temperature, cyanuric chloride (612 mg, 3.32 mmol, 1.00 equiv) and diisopropylethylamine (DIEA, 1.74 ml, 9.95 mmol, 3.00 equiv) were added dropwise. The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. Without workup or purification, the reaction mixture was carried forward to the next step. MS (ES+): m/e 435.9 [M+H]+
