Procedure
15.7 g (0.1 mol) of 2,4-dioxo-hexahydro-1,3,5-trimethyl-s-triazine are dissolved in 50 ml of water. 7 g (0.1 mol) of chloride are slowly passed into this solution. The temperature is kept at 25 -30° C by occassional cooling. The aqueous solution is then evaporated in vacuo, and 18 g (94%) of 2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro--1,3,5-s-triazinium chloride are thereby obtained as white crystals, which are strongly hygroscopic.
